Madam Golong Brings the Beats to PDX

Aside from giving us a kick ass show downtown at the Jack London Revue, Madam Golong premiered her first music video for the track, “I Like My Body.”

Of course, I loved it because it had infectious beats, a message of unabashed self love and lots of NEON but what was better is that we got to hear and see the song performed live by Madam Golong (aka Crystal Martin).

Madam Golong has been around for a while – she’s the former drummer for the S.O.S Band. She was introduced by Mss Oregon, who is a cannabis activist here in Portland. Mss Oregon organized the National Cannabis Diversity Awareness Convention back in March.

Madam Golong was approached by a producer interested in making a music video with her at Green Hop’s Block Party, where she has been a crowd favorite. Green Hop is the first black owned dispensary in Portland. It has a hip-hop theme and a focus on community – offering a cannabis workplace incubator to “racially diversify the cannabis industry with an accelerated training and apprenticeship program that connects historically underserved populations with knowledge of the cannabis industry from seed to sale.”

Also, awesome was the rapper in the first set, 400. SO GOOD! I don’t think my videos really illustrates the energy this person brings to the stage so go check 400 out on Insta!

From the dance club beats to the Jimi Hendrix cover, we were not sitting down at this show!

Thanks for a fun night!!
